For this Friday, write about something you find beautiful or inspiring.
The Way It’s Drawn
Something so beautiful
steals your breath.
Gives you peace
and lets your mind linger,
providing an anchor of hope.
A flower
that you rush to draw.
Expanding
on making the beauty last.
Examining every detail
that makes it beautifully unique.
The photo never matches
the beauty of that hand-drawn flower.
The texture,
the way the light catches,
the shading from light to dark.
The unusual
curving of a petal.
The joy
when it’s finished.
A beautifully drawn flower
that will live on the page forever.
Capturing
the essence of beauty.
The Story Behind the Poem
I was inspired to write this poem because I was thinking about something that was beautiful. I drew the sunflower because I wanted to learn how to draw a realistic sunflower. I watched a video on YouTube. I also wanted to create a sunflower to go with a poem in my poetry book. It didn’t turn out like the reference, but it was still beautiful and captured the essence well. I have experience in drawing, but I love drawing with realism. I think black-and-white drawings are beautiful because they capture the raw state.
