An Old Poetry Style – Does It Still Exist?

Sunset river landscape with trees, birds, and a rabbit on a grassy riverbank in warm golden light.

I came across a poem I wrote in my early twenties. It plays with the idea of an acrostic, and it made me wonder… do people still enjoy this kind of poetry? Here it is:

Below the riverbank
Elegant sunset arise
High above the riverbank the sun shines
Inside the river swarm a school of fish
Never before have you seen a beauty like this
Down on the ground lay a sheet of fine grass

The golden sun smiles down at the earth
Hand you a handkerchief to dry your eyes
Everlasting in the memory’s eye

Backdoor beauty as pure as wine
Aside the tree the rabbits come out to be set free
Conning their way into our beauty
Know the sunset will always rise
Drown in the pool of beauty
On the riverbank the water heats up
Only the memory never fades
Round the backyard the birds did sing
